A permanent ID is critical but a personalized tag is the quickest, most efficient way to recover your pet for you, your pet, and the local Good Samaritan rescuer. Most of the time, in any suburban setting and every urban setting, your pet will be identified as lost within 3 blocks of your home. The Good Samaritan is busy but intuitively assumes that your dog lives in the immediate neighborhood. If there is a personalized tag on the pet, the Good Samaritan can call you directly or even deliver the pet to your doorstep!
Bottom line: A win-win situation for all involved. Less stressed pet, less stressed owner, less stressed Good Samaritan, no "Get out of Jail Fines" to pay the dog catcher since he wasn't called, etc.
Don't forget to use the backside to add cell phone, vacation, or Vet telephone numbers. Please - make it easy for the finder to return your beloved pet. Cell phones are great - are you going to stay by the phone becuase that's the phone number on the tag or venture into the field with your cell phone to find your pet?
